Adolescent Syrian refugees’ experiences of displacement and humanitarian action in Beirut.

Research

Refugee adolescents are one of the most vulnerable age groups in situations of conflict and displacement. Yet, adolescents are often overlooked in humanitarian programming and academic literature. This research aims to explore how adolescent Syrian refugees in Beirut, inside and outside the camps, navigate the multi-crises setting and how they experience humanitarian assistance or the lack thereof. It also aims to uncover the perceptions of humanitarian aid organisations towards adolescent refugees and how they act in the face of the shortcomings of these organisations by investigating concepts of adolescent refugee resilience, self-reliance, social capital and agency.
